Jacob (Hebrew יַעֲקֹב) was one of the two twin sons of Isaac and was the father of the Twelve sons of Jacob whose children became the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Although Jacob is born after Esau, he ends up with both the family birthright and the family blessing.

"So [Esau] swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright." (Gen. 25:29-34)
