The Pantheon in Paris, France is a famous 19th century building where are buried some French celebrities. Its architecture by Jacques-Germain Soufflot is an example of Neoclassicism. It was finished in 1791.
The Panthéon was also the place where, in 1851, the astronomer Jean Bernard Léon Foucault first held his famous experiment, proving that the world spins around its axis. [1]
In the Pantheon are the remains of some of the great men of France like its architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot; also Honoré Mirabeau, Voltaire, Jean-Paul Marat, Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Lazare Carnot, Emile Zola, Jean Moulin, Marie Curie and her husband Pierre Curie, Louis Braille, Jean Jaures and Andre Malraux.
