The Battle of Paraetakena was part of the Wars of the Diadochi, the wars fought among Alexander the Great's generals to carve up his Empire after his sudden death. In this battle in 317 B.C. Antigonous, an infantry division commander under Alexander, and Eumenes, Alexander's staff secretary, fought in what is now Iran. Another drawn battle took place the following year. Eumenes was then killed by his own men who had been bribed by Antigonous.
