Linux Mint a free, open source, community developed operating system based on Linux systems Debian and Ubuntu.[1] It is currently ranked as the 4th most widely used home operating system; before it are Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS and Canonical's Ubuntu. Linux Mint was started in 2006, and is still in development.[2]

Some people who are familiar with Windows operating systems find this Linux edition to be easier to understand than others. Whether this is the goal of the developers or not, its layout is somewhat similar to that of Windows. As with any new system, though, some adaption is still required.
