*Robert Morris was a graduate student in computer science at Cornell University who released his [[worm]] on the internet on Nov. 2, 1988. In 1990, Morris was convicted of violating 18 USC ยง 1030. He appealed, and his conviction was affirmed in ''U.S. v. Morris'', 928 F.2d 504 (2d Cir. 1991).
