A birth certificate is an important record that documents when and where a person was born and (usually) who the parents are.[1]
President Obama caused controversy when he refused for months to release his birth certificate to voters who wanted to make sure that he was eligible for the Presidency. After pressure from conservatives, he released an alleged birth certificate from Hawaii, widely believed to be fraudulent.
