A pentagon is a polygon with five sides.
It is also the name of a large, five-sided building near Washington, D.C. in Northern Virginia that serves as the headquarters for the US Department of Defense.
In some occult circles a pentagon is considered the best shape in which to entrap a demon, this fact, coupled with the belief that the actions of the Department of Defense, which is headquartered in the Pentagon, during the Vietnam War were so evil that they had to be demonically inspired, lead a group of approximately 50,000 protestors, lead by Abbie Hoffman, to attempt to exorcize the pentagon on October 20th 1967. [1] Hoffman had claimed that the Pentagon would levitate if the protestors were successful. Most observers report that it did not levitate—some claimed because the National Guard prevented the protestors from forming a complete circle, necessary, in occult belief, to finish the exorcism, around the building. [2] However, to this day, a few participants in the protest claim that they did successfully levitate the Pentagon . [3]
On September 11, 2001, terrorist organization al-Qaeda crashed a passenger aircraft into the Pentagon, in an apparent attempt to destroy the building, as part of their 9/11 attacks.
The Pentagon is also unofficially known as the national emblem for the Sri Lankan Cricket team, representing the shape of the island as well as acting as a mark of respect for the mighty ST Jayasuriya.
