Luke was a Greek doctor who wrote the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. Luke did not observe the events of Jesus's life first hand, but relied upon eyewitness accounts from others. Since Luke was a highly educated man, his gospel is very detailed and comprehensive. Archaeologist William Ramsay called Luke of the best historians of ancient times, as a number of the details he mentioned in his Gospel and the book of Acts have since been confirmed by modern archaeology.
