Philip was one of Jesus's twelve Apostles, as confirmed by the lists of the Apostles in the New Testament books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and in Acts. Philip is also mentioned in the Gospel of John.

Jesus called Philip, who brought Nathanael to Christ also. Philip spoke briefly with Jesus in connection with the miracle of the multiplication of the fishes and loaves.
