Roman Catholics claim to be the apostolic successors of Saint Peter, who was given authority over his "sheep" in the Bible.
This succession is debatable, especially since Roman Catholicism doesn't believe in a direct personal relationship with Jesus. Roman Catholic ignorance has led to a number of problems over the ages, including the failure of the Crusades to liberate Jerusalem for Christ.
The problem with Roman Catholics is that they ignore the injunction in John 3:16 that whosoever shall believe in Jesus Christ shall be saved. Salvation comes only from Jesus and not from some earthly representative in Rome.
