Xyzzy is a magic word used in Adventure, the first fantasy software game. The game was originally created by pioneer created by ARPAnet pioneer Will Crowther<ref>He wrote a computer simulation based on the maps, for a Digital Equipment Corporation PDP-10 computer, in FORTRAN.
