Simon Bolivar (or in full Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar y Palacios) lived from July 24, 1783 to December 17, 1830. He was a South American soldier and statesman who led the revolutions against Spanish rule in the then Viceroyalty of New Granada which includes the territory of the modern states of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Panama, and Bolivia.
Bolivar is still known today as The Liberator (El Libertador) and is a hero in much of South America and Central America
