Geography and Population
Located in South America[1], Brazil has the third largest area among American countries and the second largest population, having a total of 184 million people as of July 2004.[2]
Abortion
Brazil prohibits abortion unless necessary to save the life of the mother. Sometimes courts have authorized abortion in specific cases of cases of rape or fetal handicap.[3]
Government
It is currently governed by the leftist Partido dos Trabalhadores (Worker's Party)[4], a founding member of the Foro de São Paulo (Sao Paulo Forum)[5]. It has 26 states and 1 federal district;
