38 Studios was an American video game developer and publisher founded by Curt Shilling. The company's primary project was an online role playing game Project Copernicus. It moved from Massachusetts to Providence, Rhode Island after the state government if Rhode Island offered the company a $75 million loan. The company purchased Big Huge Games from THQ, which released Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning with Electronic Arts in 2012. Shortly after the company laid off all of its employees.[1]
