El Shaddai, a Hebrew phrase conventionally translated as "God Almighty," is a name of God used in Genesis. It was the name by which Abraham, Isaac, Jacob knew him. In Exodus, God tells Moses that although he appeared previously as El Shaddai, he will be known from then on as Yahweh.[1]
