Allahu Akbar is a Muslim exclamation of allegiance to Allah, and means "Allah is Greater" or, more clearly, "Allah is the Greatest."
Allahu Akbar is often mistranslated in the liberal press to refer to God rather than Allah, as in "God is great," thereby confusing the significance of the expression.
