Saturday (pronunciation: Saturday) is the sixth day of the week. It was voted "Best Day of the Week" in 2006. The origin of the name is in the Ancient Egyptian calendar: the sixth day of the week was known as "Caturday", after the Egyptian's favourite animal. (1)

Saturday is the seventh day of the week, coming after Friday and before Sunday. The name is derived from the word for Saturn, a Roman God of agriculture.

Jews and some Christians (notably Seventh-Day Adventists) consider Saturday to be the day of the Sabbath, although most Christians generally observe Sunday as the Christian Sabbath. See Sabbatarianism.
