This third battle was fought in Ypres,~~ [[~~Belgium]] which had seen two previous battles, one in 1914 and one one 1915. The~~ Third Battle of Ypres lasted 18 months beginning in 1917. In this battle the [[United Kingdom\|British]] hid 19 huge land mines underneath the [[Germany\|German]] lines. Unfortunately once the land mines exploded the British did not move fast enough and became bogged down by the ensuing rain.
