HMS Resolution was a British exploration ship, primarily known for her role under Captain James Cook. She was the preferred sloop of the 2nd and 3rd voyages of James Cook, in the Pacific.
Notable Achievements
The Resolution is notable for being the first ship to cross the Antarctic Circle, and did so twice. Furthermore, under Cook, the resolution became the first ship to ever determine longitude at sea, with an extraordinarily accurate marine chronometer, the K1. HMS Resolution was the ship that explored for Great Britain the west coast of North America, and it's inlets, Hawaii, and many of the pacific islands.
