Dr. James Cocke (died 1789[1]) served as mayor of Williamsburg, Virginia from 1767 to 1768 and again from 1772 to 1773.

In January 1768 Mayor Cocke issued a statement regarding a small pox outbreak in Williamsburg. He tried to assure the people by saying, "it is thought proper to advertise all persons concerned that the Common Hall have taken, and continue to take, every prudent precaution to prevent the spreading of that contagion."[2]

Cocke's daughter Elizabeth married Col. James Innes.[3]
