Angles

The Angles were a Germanic people, originally from ''Angelm'' ( modern northwest Germany at the base of Denmark), who formed part of the Anglo-Saxons, along with the Saxons and Jutes. They migrated to south-western parts of England, starting in the 5th century A.D. Their name has come down to us in the words, "England" and "English" and all their derivatives.
