Mindset is "defined as an “established set of attitudes”, as "the outlook, philosophy, or values of a person”, and “frame of mind, attitude, [and] disposition.” Within her broad research, Carol Dweck defines two types of mindsets: the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. The defensive mindset on a personal level described above can be linked to the concept of a fixed mindset: an attitude that views intelligence and competences as something static and therefore sees personal challenges and mistakes as threats rather than learning opportunities."[1]

A person's culture, religion, philosophical outlook, worldview, frame of mind, general outlook, and disposition can help determine their mindset.[2][3]
