La République En Marche! (English translation: "Republic on the March!"), is a liberal and globalist party in France. It was founded on 6 April 2016 by Emmanuel Macron, a former French Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs, who was later elected President of France in the 2017 presidential election by a landslide 66.1% of the second-round vote.[1]
It later won a landslide victory in the 2017 French Legislature Elections though this victory was not as big as pollsters initially predicted.
Ideology
Although Macron was a member of the Socialist Party from 2006 to 2009 and an independent from 2009 to 2016,[2][3] En Marche! seeks to transcend traditional political boundaries to be a transpartisan organisation.
Since becoming President, Macron has appointed a cabinet that is composed of more "right-of-center" politicians than left-wing ones. However, his entire cabinet supports the globalist and increasingly socialist European Union and increased globalization.
