The Screen Actors Guild Awards ("SAG Awards") are held annually to recognize outstanding members of television and film. Actors are nominated by members of a committee and then voted for only by members of the Screen Actors' Guild.
More so than other pre-Oscar awards, these "SAG Awards" are the best indicator of who will win an Academy Award: USA Today writes that the SAG Awards "thus are more predictive in the Oscar race than other high-profile awards shows, such as the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards."[1]
The award categories are:
- Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
- Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
- Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
- Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role
- Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series

- Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series
