Wesley So is the United States chess champion, winning the annual tournament in October 2020 by playing with a sky-high performance rating of 2919. Wesley So has also been the world champion in Fischer Random Chess, after routing Magnus Carlsen in the finals. On December 1, 2020, So also defeated Carlsen in the finals of the Skilling Open to win that tournament.
