George William Norris (July 11, 1861 – September 2, 1944) was a Republican U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator from Nebraska. Born in Ohio, he was a leader of the bipartisan Progressive Movement, and by the 1930s he was a leading liberal in domestic policy and an isolationist in foreign policy.
He is best known for having been featured in John F. Kennedy's Profiles in Courage. He bravely spoke out against Joseph Cannon's power as Speaker of the House, and was a proponent of Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. He became an Independent and was defeated for reelection in 1942 by Kenneth S. Wherry, a conservative Republican from Liberty, Nebraska.
