As with Balochistan, on what basis is Manchuria being called a country? It is not recognized as a sovereign state by any country on earth. FabioZ (talk) 10:45, 5 January 2021 (EST)

Manchuria has a government in exile, including an administration, national symbols, embassies, ect. and was a country before the Soviet invasion. It is as much a country as Tibet or any other place conquered by the CPC. JoeJN (JoeJN) 11:53, 5 January 2021 (EST)
Doesn't make it a "country". Neither is Tibet. And before the Soviet invasion, Manchuria was a puppet state of Japan. FabioZ (talk) 12:47, 5 January 2021 (EST)
Other areas with their own cultures that are controlled by the CCP are referred to as countries on this wiki. In addition, a country being a puppet of another county does not negate its right to soverginity JoeJN (JoeJN) 12:51, 5 January 2021 (EST)
Why does the Manchurian govt-in-exile use the Japanese name Manchuko? Doesn't that invoke some bad memories? RobSFree Kyle! 14:08, 5 January 2021 (EST)
I don't know. I suppose it is not our choice to determine how they identify. Part if it is probably the way monarchal titles work.JoeJN (JoeJN) 14:22, 5 January 2021 (EST)
"Manchukuo" comes from the Wade-Giles romanization of 滿洲國 (Man-chou-kuo, pinyin Mǎnzhōuguó). The first two characters mean "Manchu", and the last means "kingdom", "nation", or "country". Its Japanese romanization is kuni (Kun) or koku (On). FabioZ (talk) 15:29, 5 January 2021 (EST)
