A Railcar (U.S. English) is a railroad vehicle for carrying freight. [1]
Types of railcar
- Boxcar, a closed car for carrying general freight
- Gondola car, an open car for carrying general freight
- Tank car, for carrying liquids, such as oil
- Hopper car, for carrying bulk materials, such as grain
- Caboose, the last car in a train, with kitchen and sleeping facilities for the train crew. Automation has made the caboose redundant.[2]
