Daniel H. Hastings was the governor of Pennsylvania from 1895 to 1899. Hastings was a true patriot, and attempted to run away from home three times to join the Union Army. Hastings became the president of Bellefont High School at 18 years of age. Daniel Hastings went of to law school before long and used it to further his career. He clinched the republican nomination in 1894 and won the election to become governor in a landslide victory.[1]
