On 13 May 1572 he was crowned as a pope Gregorius XIII. On 1582 he left 5 October Gregorian calendar to introduce, the calendar which we use today the day still. By wrong in Juliaanse calendar ran these meanwhile ten days behind. To compensate this one skipped ten days, as a result of which it became after 4 October 1582 15 October after 4 October.
