Bix Beiderbecke was a Jazz cornettist of the 1920s. He is arguably the most important white jazz musician of that decade - whilst, like most white bands of the time, he was inspired by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band,[1] he was able to introduce a unique lyrical sensibility into the music.
He died young in 1931 after years of persistent alcohol abuse: an early vicim of Hollywood values.
