Linda Woolverton (born December 19, 1952) was a screenwriter, playwright, and novelist. A feminist, many of her works often tried to push the feminist agenda. Notable works of hers include Disney's Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Maleficent, and the live action Alice in Wonderland movies. She had been hired into Disney by then-Chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg around the time of Beauty and the Beast's development, as he had demanded for a "feminist twist" to the tale.[1] She also has donated to the left-wing group VOICES FOR A SENATE MAJORITY - Democrat Farm Labor in 2008.[2]
