The Wolf Prize is an internationally granted award inside of Israel. It is granted to "outstanding scientists and artists, for achievements in the interest of humankind and friendly relations among peoples."[1] Each recipient of the Wolf Prize receives over $100,000, as well as a certificate that comes alongside it, personally awarded to them by the president of Israel. (If the prize in a field is awarded to two or three people, they share the $100,000 equally.) About 5-6 recipients receive this award every year, and they may receive this prize in the fields of Agriculture, Chemistry, Mathematics, Medicine, Physics, and the Arts. The Arts prize rotates each year between Architecture, Music, Painting and Sculpture.[2] The Wolf Prize is highly prestigious, and many recipients of this award have gone on to win the Nobel Prize.

The prizes were first awarded in 1978 and were established by the Wolf Foundation.
