scientist

How can someone be an amateur scientist? That's like saying someone is an amateur pastor or an amateur internet user. There is no official definition of a professional scientist. It seems as if it comes down to I don't like him so I'll discredit him however I can. Doctor CBThe Doctor is In 19:48, 21 April 2008 (EDT)

Sentence removed. --Ed Poor Talk 19:57, 21 April 2008 (EDT)
I replaced the line about James Randi. I don't think anyone, liberal or conservative, can argue in defense of so called "faith healers" like Popoff... He hurt a lot of people very badly in the name of god to line his pockets. His debunking was very well known and a very infamous moment in Televangelism(sp?). I think the line is very pertinent to the article. Doctor CBThe Doctor is In 00:27, 22 April 2008 (EDT)
Here;s another link part 1part 2 dealing with it. This is the actual Tonight Show Episode. Doctor CBThe Doctor is In 00:29, 22 April 2008 (EDT)
Fine, I don't care about having the line. However, without formal training, he is an amatuer. HenryS 00:30, 22 April 2008 (EDT)
Science isn't something you need formal training for. A seven year old who wonders if things fall down all the time and devises an "experiment" to test their theory is a scientist. Labcoats and PHD's don't make a scientist. There is no such thing as an amateur scientist. Doctor CBThe Doctor is In 00:33, 22 April 2008 (EDT)

African American

A quick look at BET programing, and it's obvious that it is not geared toward "Caribbean blacks living in Queens." Considering most Carribbean natives and Africans hate African Americans, it's not exactly geared toward them. Doctor CBThe Doctor is In 13:16, 25 April 2008 (EDT)

More to the point, "African American" is an unmarked term. Unless Ed is trying to editorialize stealthily, this is splitting too fine a hair. Given Ed's willingness to editorialize in the open elsewhere, I'm not sure why there's a charade going on here. Aziraphale 14:54, 25 April 2008 (EDT)
