Thomas Dexter Jakes (also known as T.D. Jakes and Bishop Jakes) is pastor of The Potter's House, a non-denominational and predominantly black church in Dallas, Texas. The church is listed by Christianity Today as one of the fastest growing in America. Their goal is to be a voice of spiritual hope to people of all races and denominations.[1] He describes himself as a political moderate.[2]

However, Jakes is controversial for his views on the Trinity, which have been described as either Oneness Pentecostal (which rejects the view of the Trinity, unlikely as some of his sermons have spoken on all three members of the Trinity) or Modalism (which considers each member to be a mere different manifestation of God); Jakes has avoided discussing the topic for the most part (some critics believe he does so deliberately).
