The Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is a training program of the United States Armed Forces present on college campuses to recruit and educate commissioned officers. It is designed as a college elective, and studies focus on leadership development, problem solving, strategic planning, and professional ethics. Generally ROTC programs are run through a Department of Military or Naval Science.

Nearly 300 colleges and universities currently host the 200-year-old ROTC program.[1] However, until the repeal of the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy in December 2010, dozens of "prestigious" schools banned ROTC programs on their campuses. During an earlier period ROTC programs also faced exclusion from campuses as a protest of America's involvement in war.

The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is a variant of the above program that is used in High Schools and to some extent Middle Schools.
