Power-brokers or kingmakers are terms for the political insiders who make the behind-the-scenes decisions, typically in cahoots with the liberal media, about who the presidential nominee will be for a major political party.
Similar terms having overlapping but somewhat different meanings are:
- the elites (this term was used by Biden to survive an attempt to remove him as the nominee in July 2024)
- the term "elite" was used by the New York Times Magazine in 1963: "The members of that elite will not lightly relinquish their party to Barry Goldwater." That "elite" was defined by that article as the "eastern, internationalist power structure that for two decades has dictated Republican nominations." Tom Wicker, "Anatomy of the Goldwater Boom," New York Times Magazine (Aug. 11, 1963).[1]
- the Establishment
- the Deep State
For example, the uniform calls in late June and early July 2024 by liberals for President Biden to step aside as the Democrat nominee for president appeared to be coordinated by power-brokers who probably have another nominee in mind, such as Michelle Obama or the globalist, openly homosexual Pete Buttigieg.[2]
