DNA files of potential criminals refers to the scheme proposed by Gary Pugh of Britain's Scotland Yard for storing information about potential criminals. Pugh, the DNA spokesman for the Association of Chief Police Officers plans that all children should be monitored and if they exhibit "any behavior that is consider worrisome" their DNA should be taken from them and stored for use later.[1] He says this is a way "of identifying offenders before they offend". One of the leading left-wing newspapers, The Guardian, asserted that government "criminologists are understood to be confident that techniques are able to identify future offenders."

Science fiction

  • It is not known whether Pugh has read Minority Report, the short story by Philip K. Dick where in the future, criminals are caught before the crimes they would commit, which was first published in 1956 in the magazine Fantastic Universe.
