Impanation

Impanation is one of many Protestant beliefs concerning the nature of the Lord's Supper or Eucharist. It rejects the Roman Catholic belief in transubstantiation, holding instead that the presence of Christ coexists with the bread and wine but in an indefinable way. A follower of Martin Luther, Osiander (1498-1552), originally taught impanation during the Reformation.
