Desiree Rogers

Desiree Glapion Rogers (born June 16, 1959 in New Orleans, Louisiana) served as White House Social Secretary under the Obama administration. She announced her resignation in February 2010 after Michaele and Tareq Salahi, entrepreneurs from Washington, D.C., crashed a state dinner party for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Rogers spent a career in Chicago business, working at AT&T and becoming an executive for entrepreneur Larry Levy. In 1990, she was appointed by Republican Governor Jim Edgar to run the Illinois State Lottery. In 1997, Rogers became Vice President of Corporate Communications for Peoples Energy and Chief Marketing Officer in 2000. In 2004, she was elected senior vice president of the Integrys Energy Group.[1]
