Fort William and Mary is a fortification near New Castle that was the site of the only battle to take place in the state of New Hampshire during the Revolutionary War.[1] The fort has been re-named twice; after the Revolution it was called Fort Castle, and during the War of 1812 it was renamed again to Fort Constitution.
Raid
In December 1774, local patriots led by future Founder John Langdon captured the fort seeking military supplies such as gunpowder.
