Alerts are sent by law enforcement to commercial radio stations, Internet radio, satellite radio, local television stations, cable TV by the Emergency Alert, cell phone text/SMS/email and electronic billboards.
The service was named for Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old abducted and murdered in Arlington, Texas.
