Zoe Lofgren
Zoe Lofgren (born December 21, 1947) is the very liberal United States Representative for the 19th congressional district of California based in San Jose. She is a member of the Democratic Party. From 1995 to 2013, she represented California's 16th district. Lofgren was chair of the House Ethics Committee from 2009 to 2011. She supports more immigration. Lofgren is a sponsor of the communist Green New Deal and Medicare for All bills. She strongly supports gun control and was one of 17 members of Congress who filed amicus curiae briefs in favor of gun control in the Supreme Court case of D.C. v. Heller.[1][2]
As of 2021, Lofgren has received $964,816 in employee and PAC contributions from Big Tech companies Google, Microsoft, Cisco, Intuit, Oracle, Adobe and others.[3] Her financial disclosure statements reveal her husband’s financial stock trades involving Apple, Inc., Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Intel.[4] At a Congressional Progressive Caucus meeting,[5] Lofgren said,
| “I’m from Silicon Valley. I have received support over the years from these companies. The last time I actually spent any money on my own campaign was in ’96, when I sent a postcard. All the money I raise is for other candidates. … Last Congress, I raised almost $7 million for other candidates. Whatever I’m raising, it’s going to them, not me.”[6] |
