The Yellow vest (also Yellow jacket, French gilets-jaunes pron. zhee-lay zhon) movement began as a popular anti-carbon tax movement in France in response to globalist climate change agreements. The tax hike is part of France's long-term ecological plan to move the country away from fossil fuels.[1] Per the Paris Climate Agreement, the government imposed an 8 cent per gallon tax increase on gasoline.[2] At least 10 people were killed, hundreds injured, and over thousands arrested in protests. The movement has attracted support across the political spectrum.

One protester summarized the cause of grievances: climate change advocates "talk about the end of the world, we're worried about the end of the month."[3]

Similar anti-globalist big government movements have appeared in a diversity of nations. including Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Serbia, Bulgaria, Iraq, Canada, Israel, Jordan, United Kingdom, Greece, Sweden, Ireland, Portugal and Taiwan.

Origins

Emblematic of the meaning of the yellow vest, statist and bureaucratic laws require all automobiles in France to carry a yellow vest in case of an emergency. After the latest tax increase eating away their incomes, people felt they were in an emergency situation.[4] The BBC stands ready to blame any mass civilian casualties on "far right extremists" and the National Rally with pre-written reports, sources say.

The movement has no central organization or elected leadership. Unlike the EU supported Arab Spring uprisings of 2011, EU this time sent armored vehicles bearing the EU flag into the streets of France to smash the anti-climate tax protests.[5]

Poland, the Czech and Slovak Republics, and Italy were remarkably free of protests. Meanwhile, it was reported George Soros sent about 150 paid protesters into Hungary to infiltrate the protests in attempting to create a riot.

Battling climate change by taxation

While implementing the Paris climate agreement, which President Macron strongly supports, the Macron Administration has set a goal of ending the sale of gasoline and diesel vehicles by 2040 in an effort to comply with the Paris agreement's carbon reduction goals.[6][7][8]

In November and December 2018, Macron's program to raise fuel taxes was met with heavy resistance,[9] overwhelmingly supported by the public at large.[10][11]

Deaths, injuries and arrests

More than 850,000 people signed a petition supporting the Yellow Vests. Estimates put the size of the crowds at 287,000 in the streets of cities and towns throughout France. The demonstrations were the largest since the May 1968 protests which led to the toppling of De Gaulle. Macron eventually declared a "social and economic" emergency and ordered a force of 89,000 gendarmeries on the streets to deal with crowds.

An 80-year-old woman at home in Marseille went to the window to close her blinds, and was hit by a tear gas canister fired by the government, and killed.[12] A man in Bordeaux was tossing a police grenade away from the crowd when it blew up, severing his arm.[13] A young woman, Fiorina Lignier, lost an eye when she was indiscriminately shot in the face with a police grenade while attempting to leave the Champs-Elysees.[14] Police ordered the crowd to disperse,[15] but had corralled the people in, making it impossible to leave.[16] At least one person is alleged to have been shot by a sniper.[17]

Macron

Emmanuel Macron, a rising globalist whose star has crested. While Mama Merkel (nicknamed 'Mother Terrorista') is being chased from power in Germany, Macron, according to the MSM, represented the "future of Europe," a globalist future that the people do not want.[18]

Polls show 80% of France supported the yellow vest movement in January 2019,[19] and even a year after the protests began, a strong majority of Franch citizens supported the movement.[20] Even some police have shown a reluctance to follow orders to take action against innocent people.[21]

An old adage says the people in France always win in a fight with their government. Macron, whom globalists praise as the "savior of Europe,"[22] made concessions that violate the EU's budget austerity rules.[23] The taxes collected not only were intended to discourage driving and reduce carbon emissions, they also are a vital component of a wealth redistribution program to illegal immigrants, to manage the Brussels EU-generated migrant crisis.[24]

France is the heaviest taxed nation in Europe, with government consuming 47% of GDP.[25][26] Emmanuel Macron, a relatively unknown, was recruited by the one percent to run against a rising populist movement led by Marine Le Pen in 2017. Macron is regarded as a puppet of the elite who has ceded his nation's sovereignty to the European Union. The widespread dissatisfaction blames globalization for increasing poverty and decline of the nation.

Macron, who only days earlier chided President Trump before the whole world and condemned nationalist sentiment,[27] unabashedly claimed that "no tax deserves to risk unity of the nation," a rather odd way of saying 'diversity is not our strength.' Since his election eighteen months earlier, Macron's popularity slid from 66% to 18%.

According to a January 2019 Ifop poll, most French people believed Macron had not done enough to address the concerns of the yellow vest movement.[28]

More liberal claptrap

Main article: Liberal claptrap

Speaking in front of flags of both the EU and France, Macron came out of hiding to address the nation.[29] Macron noted retirees had joined the protests and called the protesters "thugs", which only angered more people.

Macron promised to "raise the minimum wage," "tax the rich," tax breaks for overtime and Holiday bonuses,[30] and other "crumbs."[31] Macron blamed the "malaise" gripping the nation for decades on the people.[32] Not once did Macron mention the words "climate change" - the issue spawning tax increases, the decline in living standards, and civil unrest.

Most people considered Macron's speech condescending, rude, insincere, and his promises insufficient. His pledge of "No U-turns" on his radical climate-driven agenda re-invigorated the movement's priorities to settle for nothing less than Macron's ouster. Work slowdowns and stoppages increased.

Decades of social spending and government diktats already ruined the French economy before Macron took office, leaving it in tatters. Food shortages were reported in some cities. Macron only promised more of the same - more deficits to pacify a people who have been bludgeoned mercilessly by the ever-increasing size and power of government intruding into their lives. On cue, the liberal media started blaming the violence on "Russian bots".

Though originally surrendering, Macron later lashed out at the yellow vests, claiming they were a "hateful crowd."[33]

Italian Minister Matteo Salvini remarked, "History will show that if Macron had focused more on the French and less on Salvini and Italy, he would have a few less problems today."

In January 2019, French confidence in the media fell to the lowest level since data began being reported in 1987, a trend related to the yellow vest movement.[34]

Let them eat cake

Weeks after Macron threw a bone to minimum wage earners, protests and calls for his resignation continued unabated. After generations of government duplicity, people are not fools anymore. What socialism and the welfare state give with one hand, it takes back through taxes and inflation with the other - especially in the zero sum game of government debt and budget austerity. The beliefs of the liberal elites, to imagine people rioting and protesting for a minimum wage increase so that they can remain at the bottom of the Marxist class structure, or that people's spiritual needs in a Christless society can be mollified with cash, only demonstrate how out of touch and demeaning those elites are toward the public.

As the movement grew, students joined in support of workers, opposing the hardships big government imposes on people's everyday lives. A manifesto appeared mirroring President Trump's agenda.[35]

The riot police were exhausted and demoralized. They worked 16 hours straight without eating during the protests and had to purchase their own clothing and equipment. They received no help from the government or unions. Macron tried to bribe police with an additional €300 a month, but the police union rejected the offer and went on strike.

Ten Generals and a former Defense Minister accused Macron of treason, for his betrayal of democracy and signing away more French sovereignty with the UN Migrant Treaty, and without the people's consent.[36]

Christmas market shooting

Following directly on the heels of Macron's national address, another Islamic terrorist attack on Western Civilization and its cultural traditions occurred at a Christmas market in Strasbourg,[37] seat of the EU Parliament leaving four French citizens dead and 14 wounded by an Islamic rebel shouting "Allahu Akbar."[38][39] The Islamic State claimed credit.[40]

The shooter, Cherif Chekatt,[41] was born in France and was considered a high priority risk by police who were trying to arrest him.[42] The shooter was killed in a shoot out. Police found grenades in his apartment.[43]

Some people suspected the government was behind the Christmas market shooting in an effort to scare people to stay home and avoid crowds.[44]

Ecrasez l'infame

In the days following Macron's speech to the nation, cries for his resignation only grew louder. Crowds again took to the street, singing the French national anthem:
Arise, children of the Fatherland, The day of glory has arrived!

Against us tyranny raises its bloody banner Do you hear, in the countryside, The roar of those ferocious soldiers? They're coming right into your arms To cut the throats of your sons and women!

What does this horde of slaves, of traitors and conjured kings want? For whom are these vile chains, these long-prepared will go? Frenchmen, for us, ah! What outrage! What fury must it arouse! It is they they dare plan to return to the old slavery!

What! Foreign cohorts would make the law in our homes! What! These mercenary phalanxes would strike down our proud warriors! Great God! By chained hands our brows would yield under the yoke Vile despot would have had the masters of our destinies!

Frenchmen, as magnanimous warriors, Bear or hold back your blows! You spare those sorry victims, Who arm against us with regret. But not these bloodthirsty despots, These achievements of Bouillé, All these tigers who, mercilessly, rip their mother's breast!

Sacred love of the Fatherland, Lead, support our avenging arms Liberty, cherished Liberty, Fight with your defenders! Under our flags Hurry to thy manly accents, That your expiring enemies, See your triumph and our glory!

Children, let Honor and Fatherland be the object of all our wishes! Let us always have souls nourished with fires that might inspire both Let us be united! Anything is possible; Our vile enemies will fall, Then the French will cease to sing this fierce chorus:

To arms, citizens, Form your battalions, Let's march, let's march!

Let the impure blood water our furrows!
The government's mistreatment of citizens, students, teens, school children, police and the armed services will take generations to heal.

The yellow vests proposed a law creating direct democracy in France, something supported by 80% of French people.[45] After the French government began a national consultation, it and the liberal media condemned it because the French people proposed laws undermining left-wing and globalist ideology.[46]

In April 2019, the yellow vest protestors clashed with the French authorities, angry at how the billions of dollars in donations for Notre Dame overshadowed their protests.[47][48]

In April 2019, Macron proposed reducing taxes to appease the protestors.[49]

Police state crackdown

By Week 12 the Champs-Élysées began to look like Tiananmen Square.
See also: Gleichschaltung

Week eight of the protests saw over 137,000 police take to the streets to meet protesters in frigid temperatures.

In the Macron administration's search to blame the leaderless protests, which span the political spectrum, on an ideological faction, an early Facebook organizer was arrested. His November 2018 Facebook posting, that proposed a protest against the government's anti-global warming tax, went viral and catapulted him to the mainstream media's honorific title as "spokesman." During the seventh week of protests, Eric Drouet, a self-described pacifist, was arrested while lighting candles for the 10 victims of climate science and globalization run amok and charged with leading a mob intent on violence.[50] His arrest spurned cries of "dictatorship" and "totalitarianism."

Just when the fake news media were reporting the movement was tiring out and Macron was accelerating his alleged "reform" program, week eight brought protests even larger than before. According to Macron's government, protestors destroyed 60% of France's speed cameras.[51] Someone ran a forklift into a building where a government Minister was in his office.

In week 9 protesters planned to trigger major bank runs by withdrawing all their money. The government declared large assemblies illegal and was determined to make many arrests. The Saturday morning began with a huge explosion at a bakery leaving 4 dead and 47 injured.[52]

Police were unusually harsh toward the protestors.[53] The Council of Europe's Commissioner for Human Rights investigated France for its "heavy-handed" police crackdown.[54][55]

By February 2019, the French government had convicted 1,800 yellow vest protestors,[56] and it had arrested 8,400 protestors.[57] In August 2019, nearly 300 investigations into police violence against yellow vest protestors had been opened.[58] Crackdowns against protestors continued.[59][60]

European Spring

Globalists and the EU government's biggest fear is the Yellow Vests will turn into a European Spring movement to restore basic human rights, as the May 2019 European Parliament elections approach. With unity between Left and Right, governments are feeling an increased need for more oppressive measures against free speech, the right to assemble, and to use violence against their own populations, or to set people apart again against each other and re-create traditional Left-Right divisions, to secure and maintain the globalists' power and position.

Unlike the governments of other countries, Italy's populist government openly supported the yellow vests.[61] Some consider the current government of Italy to be a manifestation of the Yellow Vests in power – an across the spectrum group of reformers. The Italian government took steps to forge a coalition with the French Yellow Vests for the Spring EU elections.

Some opponents of the European Union saw the yellow vest movement as part of a wider shift away from globalist liberalism.[62]

Leftist involvement

D-Notice in the UK.

Leftists and anarchists have joined in the anti-tax protests and general disillusionment with the status quo.[63][64] Leftism in general is not based on property rights, and an anti-tax movement primarily is a dispute over property rights. The carbon tax is a consumer tax, affecting everyone's cost and quality of living. The carbon tax is also primarily aimed at behavior modification, and not necessarily revenue generation for the state; how the state misspends carbon tax revenues is another matter completely.

In rural areas of France, where driving is a necessity, protests amount to roadblocks, disrupting shopping and the economy. The protests are peaceful, with 80% of the population backing the movement. The roads are virtually empty on weekends, where protesters gather at crossroads and roundabouts, often with a handful of supportive police looking on. Drivers with the mandatory yellow vest all vehicles are required to carry displayed on their dashboard pass through quickly.[65]

In urban areas like Paris, it is a more mixed sentiment which includes dissatisfaction with the intrusion of government, as well. Social justice warriors have protested for "direct democracy" and against the loss of national sovereignty to the bureaucratic EU regime. Some leftists who do not respect property rights have engaged in property damage and looting. Riot police have responded with tear gas bombs and arrests. Anarchists have provoked clashes with police.

While peaceful protesters and ordinary citizens demonstrated during the daytime, leftist anarchists after nightfall were responsible for most of the property damage.

As violence dominated the mainstream media coverage, the BBC was handed a D-Notice by the UK government (Defense-Notice, a legal gag order to censor reporting on "inflammatory" incidents for national security purposes) and ordered to not report on the deaths of protesters, or to use the words, "France" or "French" on the main page of the BBC website. The BBC stands ready to blame any mass civilian casualties on "far right extremists" and the National Rally with pre-written reports, sources say.

True to their word, the BBC did begin blaming "fascists" for the violence in Paris.[66] As in the Brexit Betrayal protests and so many other campaigns, globalist-aided provocateurs attempted to co-opt and discredit the movement.

The simple reality Leftists the world over must face is, opposition to the Yellow Vests is support for the one percent.

Social democracy

France has long suffered from a leftwing, anti-market socialist command and control central economic planning. In the midst of protests of high living costs, and two months after Macron thew minimum wage earners a bone with a wage increase, the social democratic government raised food prices 10%.

European parliamentary elections

Guy Verhofstadt, the face of the totalitarian nightmare the free peoples of Europe struggle to disentangle themselves from.

The European Parliament was founded in the former German city of Strassburg in 1952. Strassburg had been formally incorporated into the French First Republic in 1792, taken back by Bismarck in 1871, returned to France by the Versailles Treaty in 1919, recouped by Hitler in 1940, and returned to the French Fourth Republic by the Angelo-American Alliance after World War II.

The EU parliament originally was founded as the Common Assembly of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) to ensure German coal production from the Rhineland, Saar, and Ruhr would continue to fuel French coal-burning electrical power plants,[67] you know, the guys who were destroying the planet with carbon emissions. The purpose was to ensure that German coal production would not be cut off again to strangle the French economy, as it had been in two world wars over the city of Straßburg and province of Alsace.

The CIA encouraged the ECSC, which eventually became known as the European Common Market (a NAFTA-style deal), and today known as the European Union or European Project.[68] It had a supposed "supranational parliament," elected by popular vote from member states since 1958, with no real power for its first 50 years, awaiting the day a younger generation could be brainwashed in public schools into believing that the institution had legitimacy and actual "supranational" power. Its existence and ultimate success or failure are entirely dependent on the outcome of the War on Sovereignty being waged by liberal elites and globalists. The 2019 elections became pivotal to the outcome.

Other nation states

When Chancellor Angela Merkel took power in 2005, the EU as a legislative and executive power was still largely regarded as a pipe-dream and a joke. Merkel said the EU needed to seek "common interests," and not "concentrate too much on whether bicycle paths are built the same way in Portugal and north-west Germany," which were the pressing societal priorities entrusted to the EU's salaried bureaucrats for the previous 50 years.

During Merkel's tenure, the EU has, with its War on Sovereignty, grown into a horrid monstrosity that common people loathe and fear and has disrupted their lives. At the entrance to the Visitors Centre of the European Parliament, there is a plaque with these words:
"National sovereignty is the root cause of the most crying evils of our times….The only final remedy for this evil is the federal union of the peoples.”
It's a warning label that essentially reads, only Marxist-Leninists can occupy civil service positions in the EU's Executive Branch in Brussels.

Belgium

Hundreds of protestors demonstrated in front of the EU Commission headquarters (the EU is a strange beast, with a legislative assembly in Strasbourg and an Executive Branch in Brussels) and called for Belgium's prime minister Charles Michel to resign.[69] Belgians also are none to happy with the UN migrant treaty which threatens to overrun their society and culture, which has already been overrun by multicultural utopian dreams.

The Belgian Prime Minister resigned on December 18, 2018, as protesters encircled EU headquarters.

Netherlands

The yellow vest movement planned protests in the Netherlands.[69][70]

Bulgaria

In Bulgaria, mobilization against rising fuel prices began in November 2018. Thousands of Bulgarians blocked main roads and border crossings between their countries and Turkey. In the poorest country in the European Union, the slogan has expanded over time around the question of purchasing power.[71]

Serbia

The rise in the price of gas in Serbia led to protests in June 2018 in several cities across the country. Bosko Obradovic, deputy of the nationalist Dveri party, said "We want normal prices for gasoline, or you will have yellow vests on the streets of Belgrade and Serbia."[72]

Germany

In Germany yellow vests demonstrated at the Brandenburg Gate. Protesters also demonstrated against the UN Migrant Treaty.[73]

Not since Hitler's bunker has Berlin appeared so fortified to defend Christmas Markets from Islamic jihadi attacks. German police are losing control of their ability to respond in an increasingly tribalized and lawless society. A police officer recruited to make the police force multicultural was arrested for planning to bomb a police station. Citizens dare not make complaints to police for fear of being accused of racism or hate speech in identifying suspects.[74] Meantime, rather than defend the public against violent crime, a politically correct police force has time to arrest Facebook posters for complaining about the situation,[75] or harassing and politically profiling young German girls who wear their hair in braids as suspected neo-Nazis.[76]

In Wiesbaden, Antifa and Yellow vests clashed.[77]

UK

Yellow Vests have shut down London Bridge to protest the Brexit Betrayal, demanding "Brexit Now!" and burning the EU flag. The UK police took what critics described as an overly harsh response to the protestors, arresting someone for calling a pro-EU, anti-Brexit MP a "Nazi."[78]

Iraq

In Basra, Iraq yellow vest protesters demanded better basic services, such as electricity and water and freedom from government corruption.[79] Protester were reportedly fired upon with live ammunition. [80]

Canada

Canadian protesters who felt the government was ignoring them demonstrated against the UN Migrant Treaty.[81] Faith Goldy has framed the issue squarely as nationalism versus globalism.

Canada's unpopular Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faces re-election in 2019.

Leftist Canadians have not faced an unpopular carbon tax yet to carry out the climate change agenda. The social experiment in France, the mother country of a great number of Canadians, has failed. Canada, which prides itself with diversity, is totally dependent on driving to maintain any semblance of a modern nation state. Yet the Trudeau regime has been particularly oppressive toward the native populations of oil-rich provinces as the United States surpassed Canada in energy production.

Pro-pipeline advocates which have protested the Trudeau regime's restrictions on their ability to feed their families have been labeled "fascist" by the leftist state-controlled megamedia propaganda apparatus, the CBC.

Antifa has confronted the Canadian Yellow vests.[82]

Eygpt

The Egyptian government banned the sale of colored vests and arrested a leading opponent of the regime after he posted a photo of himself with a yellow vest on Facebook.

Israel

Yellow vests in Israel protested rising prices.[83]

Sweden

A sample of the pseudoscience Swedish policymakers use to fashion immigration law. Imitating public debates over the national debt and Tax Freedom Day, "scientists" have invented the "ecological debt" and "Ecological Debt Day" to influence social, political, and economic public policy. To head off the imminent doomsday "global warming" scenario, and a declining fertility rate, immigration from the lawless Third World is promoted. Source: World Wildlife Fund

Nowhere is the linkage between government efforts to fight climate change and immigration more palpable than progressive Sweden. The Swedish regime has made the conscious decision to reduce carbon emissions by turning the country into a Third World hellhole.[84] This was done, of course, under a cloak of authoritarian censorship and hate speech laws. As such, in theory, the Swedish government maintains its self-image as a global progressive leader.

Speaking at a yellow vest gathering in Sweden's capital city, Katarina Jarinauch said that all Swedes, regardless of political affiliation, should participate in the protest against the policies in Sweden:
"I’m here for the little 9-year-old girl who was raped in a hiding room and beaten. I am here for the poor elderly who paid taxes throughout their lives and now have to starve and are homeless in the country they trust. I’m here for all those women who no longer dare go out. I’m here for those who do not get what the social contract promises.
We do not need more cracks in this country. It’s the government that wants us to fight each other. I want the people to stand together against the abuse of power contained therein," she said while pointing to Sweden’s parliament.[85]

Taiwan

Over 10,000 Taiwanese 'yellow vests' march in front of Presidential Office in Taipei demanding tax reform and an end to 'illegal' taxes.[86]

Portugal

Yellow Vests protesting high taxes set up roadblocks in Portugal.[87]
