Ni To-sheng (1903-1972), better known in English as Watchman Nee(a direct Mandarin to English translation), was a Chinese Christian missionary.

Missionary Work

After Nee became a Christian, he dedicated himself to spreading the word of God through China. Around 400 local churches were established with his help.

Imprisonment and Death

In the 1940s, when the Communists took over China, Watchman Nee was listed as an enemy of the Communist regime due to his strong Christian faith. In the 1950s, he was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in a prison camp, but he remained there until his death in 1972. Despite that, his Christian faith was as strong as ever, and he preached to his fellow inmates.

After his death in 1972, Watchman Nee was cremated. He is buried in the Christian Cemetery in Soochow, China.
