Washington insider
From Conservapedia
The term Washington insider is often used in the media to denote a person (usually anonymously) with an 'inside' knowledge of Federal politics. 'Insiders' can be elected politicians, such as members of Congress, but also include public servants, special advisers and their staff, lobbyists, journalists, publicists and representatives of NGOs. Washington insiders need not reside in the capital itself, but most of them live 'inside the Beltway'.
