Dr. Zelenko has successfully used hydroxychloroquine (chemical diagram shown), antibiotics and zinc to treat coronavirus patients.

Zev Vladimir Zelenko, M.D. is a New York State doctor who treated his first 350 coronavirus patients in March of 2020 with 100% success using hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin and zinc.[1][2][3] There were no hospitalizations, intubations or deaths among Zelenko's first 350 patients.[4] On March 27, 2020, Zelenko indicated that he treated 699 patients with no deaths or intubations, whereas the national average in the United States is 1.5% of coronavirus patients dying.[5] As of March 27, 2020, four patients of Dr. Zelenko have been hospitalized with pneumonia, and none of them required respirators.[6]

Dr. Vladimir Zelenko's treatment resulted in various patients' shortness of breath issues being resolved in 4 to 6 hours.[7]

Hydroxychloroquine and coronavirus

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows hydroxychloroquine to be used as an off-label coronavirus treatment.

According to WebMD.com: "The practice, called 'off-label" prescribing, is entirely legal and very common. More than one in five outpatient prescriptions written in the U.S. are for off-label therapies."[8]

Hydroxychloroquine allows zinc to penetrate the cellular wall to a larger degree.[9] Zinc is an antiviral.[10]

Zinc and coranavirus

According to the website ResearchGate.net: "Several studies have reported that zinc has a broad-spectrum antiviral activity against a variety of viruses. Increased intracellular Zinc concentrations inhibit RNA-dependent RNA polymerases and other proteins essential for the completion of different phases of the virus life cycle. Further, zinc also helps to maintain robust immune responses by producing cytokine and by modulation of immune cell activity."[11]

Azithromycin and coronavirus

Azithromycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic.[12]

For treating coronavirus (Covid-19) patients, the pharmaceutical company Pfizer announced positive data for the use of its drug azithromycin (Zithromax) when used in combination with anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine.[13]

A clinical trial was performed in France with 20 patients, six of which were also administered with azithromycin.[14]

According to Drugs.com:

The World Health Organization (WHO) is very clear that antibiotics do not work against viruses, only bacteria, and yet health care providers are using antibiotics in some patients with COVID-19. This is because:

Patients with viral pneumonia can develop a secondary bacterial infection that may need to be treated with an antibiotic, although, this complication is reported to be uncommon early on in the course of COVID-19 pneumonia.

If treatment is required for a secondary bacterial infection then a range of antibiotics can be used such as penicillins (ampicillin plus sulbactam [Unasyn], piperacillin plus tazobactam [Zosyn]), macrolides (azithromycin), cephalosporins (ceftriaxone [Rocephin]), aminoglycosides (tobramycin) and glycopeptides (vancomycin [Vancocin HCL]) for example. Often a combination of two different antibiotics is used.

Azithromycin is also thought to have antiviral and anti-inflammatory activity and may work synergistically with other antiviral treatments. In in vitro laboratory studies azithromycin has demonstrated antiviral activity against Zika virus and against rhinoviruses, which cause the common cold.[15]

Dr. Vladmir Zelenko treats his coronavirus patients in his office as an early intervention

Dr. Zelenko treats his coronavirus patients in his office and gives his treatment protocol for some patients who are experiencing shortness of breath.[16][17] For milder cases of coronavirus, he does not use the combination of hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin and zinc.[18][19]

Zelenko believes that the majority of the young and healthy people with no preexisting conditions that make them vulnerable to the coronavirus are able to recover from coronavirus without the use of his treatment of hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin and zinc.[20]

Because Zelenko uses his treatment as an early intervention, he uses "slightly lower dosages" of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin that is commonly used to treat coronavirus patients that are being treated in the hospitals.[21]

Zelenko indicates his treatment of hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin and zinc reduces the viral load of his patients and that it aids the bodies immune system so it has time to combat the coronavirus infection.[22]

Zelenko uses his treatment as an early intervention to prevent lung damage caused by acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).[23][24]

Zelenko argues that many hospitals are being inundated with patients so his in office treatments are a useful means of alleviating pressure on the hospital system.[25][26] In addition, Zelenko argues that many medical supplies are experiencing shortages.[27][28]

On March 27, 2020, Zelenko indicated that his protocols were recently on their way to Benjamin Netanyahu (the Prime Minister of Israel).[29]
