Valparaiso University (official name: Lutheran University Association) is a liberal arts college affiliated with the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church located in Valparaiso, Indiana.

History
Methodists founded Valparaiso Male and Female College in 1859 as one of the first coeducation colleges in the United States. Following the Civil War, the college was forced to close in 1871. It was revived in 1873 as the Northern Indiana Normal School and Business Institute. It changed its name in 1900 to Valparaiso College. The Lutheran University Association purchased it in 1925. The Association continues to operate it today.
Today
The University has five undergraduate colleges, a graduate school, and a law school. It is home to the second-largest collegiate chapel in the world, the Chapel of the Resurrection. Valparaiso has ten fraternities and seven sororities.[3]
