Copying from Wikipedia

I see that this edit you made was directly copied from the Wikipedia article "Islamic terrorism." We appreciate your edits, but we do not allow copying from Wikipedia (unless it was completely your own work) because Wikipedia content is not in the public domain. Also, Wikipedia oftentimes has a left-wing POV, so it is better to simply write the content yourself. I recommend that you go back and fix the content you copied from Wikipedia so that it is your own work. Please see Conservapedia:Guidelines#Copying From Other Sources and Commandment 1 from Conservapedia:Commandments for more information.

Also, I recommend that you add some good sources (preferably without any left-wing bias) for articles such as PEGIDA (Conservapedia Commandment 2). It gives us more credibility and it helps create high-quality articles.

Regardless, thank you for you improvements so far. Your edits are appreciated and we hope you continue editing! --1990'sguy (talk) 15:12, 8 January 2017 (EST)

Hello 1990's guy, I always changed at least something small in the texts I found on Wikipedia, but I will check if I can change some more words in those articles. --Gentenaar (talk) 15:24, 8 January 2017 (EST)
It's always good never to copy Wikipedia text even if small changes are made. It could still be counted as plagiarism (and unfortunately, because of Wikipedia copyright rules, we would be forced to delete the information). --1990'sguy (talk) 16:29, 8 January 2017 (EST)
Wikipedia is not in the public domain? I never heard that.... I agree though, wikipedia does seem auful biased against liberals. I try and fix it, and my edits just get reverted. ContextBot (talk) 10:25, 6 March 2017 (EST)
That is correct. We can only add Wikipedia info that we personally wrote ourselves. And even then, it is preferable that we don't copy at all. I'm not sure what you mean by "biased against liberals," though. It's clearly the opposite on that site. --1990'sguy (talk) 12:03, 6 March 2017 (EST)

Sources

Hello Gentenaar, thank you for your edits and article creations.

I noticed that your articles Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi, Belgian Jupiler League, and K.A.A. Gent do not cite any sources. I encourage you to add good sources to those articles and any other big changes you made. Adding sources is Commandment #2 in Conservapedia:Commandments, and it really does help in creating good, high quality articles. --1990'sguy (talk) 10:04, 9 January 2017 (EST)

Okay, no problem. --Gentenaar (talk) 10:13, 9 January 2017 (EST)

Tips

Thank you for all your contributions Gentenaar. I see you have been learning quickly. When creating articles, I recommend also creating redirects (whenever necessary) so that people can find the article better when doing a simple article search, as I did for some of the rivers. A redirect could also be done so someone can search the last name of a person. Also, because a normal search is case-sensitive, sometimes it is good to make a redirect.

Also, I see that in many of your articles you still do not cite any sources. I encourage you to add at least one good source for an article, even if it is a very short article, as it improves the quality of the article and our reputation. Regardless, thank you for your edits. --1990'sguy (talk) 11:09, 19 January 2017 (EST)

Category usage

I see you are making great progress in creating and structuring categories to go with pages! Keep it up! Just one note, in general it's best to to avoid including but parent and child categories. In the category "tree" please try to only include an article on one "level". If it applies to two entirely different branches, then it's okay to include it regardless, but in cases such as Tagus, try to include it in only the category "European Rivers" or only in the categories of the specific countries it runs through, such as "Portuguese Rivers". Thanks for your work! --David B (TALK) 13:13, 20 January 2017 (EST)

Page moves

Hi, I notice you are requesting a number of page moves (1990'sguy is doing a good job of informing me about them). If you want a page moved, it may be more effective if you use the move template, like {{move|New page name}} so that the page is marked and categorized for moving. Also, feel free to ask me directly for a page move, since it may take time before I or someone else notices your request. Thanks for everything! --David B (TALK) 17:55, 4 February 2017 (EST)

Thanks for the advice! --Gentenaar (talk) 02:07, 5 February 2017 (EST)

Advice

Hi, Gentenaar. I've noticed you make impressive amounts of contributions on the recent changes page. Do you have any advice for making lots of edits or creations of lots of articles? - Nathan --Abcqwe (talk) 17:37, 2 March 2017 (EST)

Hello Nathan, for me it's all about my special interest in geography and when I saw how little articles there where about Europe on CP I felt like having a mission here. I'm European and I was in many European countries (Budapest, Prague, Berlin, Rome, Athens, and last week London for the third time and so much more) so I wanted to spread my knowledge and help CP to grow. If there is some subject you really interested in and the number of articles are low you can start creating a mass of new articles or you can help me with my geography boom. Greetings from Belgium, Steve. --Gentenaar (talk) 10:34, 3 March 2017 (EST)
Okay, then. I guess we'll see lots of articles about literature and geometry. Thank you!--Abcqwe (talk) 11:23, 3 March 2017 (EST)

Congratulations

Congratulations upon being promoted to "block"!

I noticed that you indefinitely blocked a vandal. While it does seem good to block someone like that indefinitely, such a block also prevents the IP address from accessing CP. Because vandals often use different servers, they are able to hide their actual IP address. Thus, by blocking a vandal indefinitely, some innocent person who was unfortunate enough to get the same IP address may not be able to see CP in the future. This is not that big of a deal, but it is probably better to only use temporary blocks -- 1, 2, 5 months or years, etc. DavidB4 gave a better explanation on my talk page. Regardless, you have done some very good work here. Keep it up! --1990'sguy (talk) 20:07, 4 March 2017 (EST)

Thanks for your advice, 1990'sguy. --Gentenaar (talk) 06:13, 5 March 2017 (EST)

Article moves

Hello,
When a page needs to be moved, the simple solution is to do what you did--cut the content from the source, and paste it in the destination. However, this method is generally discouraged. Doing this causes the edit history to be lost. Since you were the primary contributor to that page anyway, it is probably not major problem, but one other person did contribute and now is not getting credit. Besides, starting a page with a lot of content but no history can make some suspect plagiarism.
If pages where you are the only contributor need to be moved, it is probably okay to use the cut-and-paste method, but if anyone else has contributed as well, please ask an administrator or assistant SysOp (such as myself) to perform the move properly.
Thank you for all of your efforts so far, and your attempt at a quick solution for St Gall! --David B (TALK) 17:13, 27 April 2017 (EDT)

I understand, thanks for the advice.--Gentenaar (talk) 05:37, 28 April 2017 (EDT)
It is very important not to copy and paste to move page contents to a new location. For copyright reasons, we must carry the history of the page contributions with the content. Thanks, JDano (talk) 14:01, 28 April 2017 (EDT)

Winchester Cathedral

I see that you uploaded a photo from a copyrighted travel site to Conservapedia. Are you sure that the photo was not copyrighted? There is a copyright notice on the bottom of each page of that website. Perhaps you can substitute a photo from Wikipedia or flicker. Thanks, JDano (talk) 14:01, 28 April 2017 (EDT)

I changed the photo with the one I uploaded from wikimedia commons.--Gentenaar (talk) 06:23, 29 April 2017 (EDT)

Congratulations

You were one of the best editors I met here when it came to generating useful content in recent times. I know you made some stubs, but that's fine; they increase page count and they're less humiliating than some of the things I've seen here.--Nathan (talk) 16:34, 4 June 2017 (EDT)

I'm happy to read this friendly words, Nathan. --Gentenaar (talk) 11:30, 5 June 2017 (EDT)
