Team

Hi there

I am just planing to make a team to update, at the Main Page, the "Article of the month". Could be you, Learn_together and me. I am sure Andy will approve it. Agreee? --User:Joaquín Martínez, talk 09:41, 8 December 2007 (EST)

Yes, I agree. --Crocoite 19:47, 8 December 2007 (EST)
Excellent my friend. --User:Joaquín Martínez, talk 21:16, 8 December 2007 (EST)
The reply from Mr. Schlafly was this:

Sounds like a fantastic idea, Joaquin! I'm all for it.

First thing we have to do is to make a list of featured articles, then select the best ones. We can start now.

--User:Joaquín Martínez, talk 13:19, 13 December 2007 (EST)

Good. How about if you make a team page where we can collaborate on our efforts. --Crocoite 13:45, 13 December 2007 (EST)
Good idea. --User:Joaquín Martínez, talk 15:05, 13 December 2007 (EST)

Please use:

Featured articles --User:Joaquín Martínez, talk 15:10, 13 December 2007 (EST)

Any suggestion to start? --User:Joaquín Martínez, talk 21:38, 13 December 2007 (EST)
Ronald Wilson Reagan --Crocoite 21:41, 13 December 2007 (EST)

Done. --User:Joaquín Martínez, talk 21:52, 13 December 2007 (EST)

Any comment about the actual list? Which do you think could be next one? --User:Joaquín Martínez, talk 23:53, 17 December 2007 (EST)
Jesus Christ would be my choice. --Crocoite 00:50, 18 December 2007 (EST)

Genocide

This seems a fairly straightforward issue to me. I have seen no definition of genocide outside of this site's article that requires that genocide be carried out by a government. The UN has not defined genocide this way, and the State Department states explicitly that genocide occurred in Bosnia. [1] Based on these facts, I think the definition in the article should be corrected, and the Srebrenica massacre should be reinserted as an example of genocide. What are your thoughts? Present

Webcam links

These webcam links are very interesting! DanH 15:23, 27 December 2007 (EST)

Thanks Dan! I found a link on Fox News - Links to Webcams Around the World that has other great links we can add to our articles. I'm going to be taking a break from editing soon, so feel free to peruse the views and add some to Conservapedia. --Crocoite 15:29, 27 December 2007 (EST)
Excellent material. Good work! Have a happy new year, too! --User:Joaquín Martínez, talk 14:11, 28 December 2007 (EST)

Fantastic blocks

Fantastic blocks, Crocoite! God bless you!--Aschlafly 12:41, 6 January 2008 (EST)

Thank you Andy :) --Crocoite 12:54, 6 January 2008 (EST)

Contest4

Crocoite, we need you in Contest4. Can you join it? In particular, your front-page edits and archiving are terrific. Please add your name at Conservapedia:Contest4!--Aschlafly 08:40, 12 January 2008 (EST)

Andy, thanks for the invite. Due to work commitments seven days a week now, I will have limited participation. Good luck with the contest! --Crocoite 12:03, 14 January 2008 (EST)

Good work with our team page. BrianCo 05:05, 14 January 2008 (EST)

Thanks Brian. --Crocoite 12:03, 14 January 2008 (EST)
I will get around to tallying my running total today; twice I've done it and neglected to remove a certain four letter word from one of the blocks I did, causing the spam filter to block my score page edit :D I am always a bit busier on Shabbat, but I will try to do more shortly. 10px Fox (talk|contribs) 10:14, 18 January 2008 (EST)
Thanks Fox. I also asked the judges - How many points for adding categories to images since I know we both added cats yesterday. --Crocoite 10:22, 18 January 2008 (EST)
Yeah, I saw; I think that 2 is justified, as they are getting two or three cats added, and it can be slightly harder to figure exactly where - as an image - they belong. 10px Fox (talk|contribs) 10:24, 18 January 2008 (EST)
Mine were really easy, since I just added 1 cat each + I just used the cat from the article the image links to; of course 2 pts each would be nice ;-). I'll leave it to the judges to decide before I score the pts. --Crocoite 10:27, 18 January 2008 (EST)

Great work in the contest :) Much appreciated 10px Fox (talk|contribs) 04:29, 21 January 2008 (EST)

Thanks Fox!. I wanted to do more, but that's all I could do considering I've been working seven days a week. Thanks to you and the rest of our team, we won again! Of course, in the end, Conservapedia is a much better place due to the efforts from both teams. --Crocoite 16:07, 21 January 2008 (EST)

Wow

Lol - usually, after I put a delete tag on an article, at least a few seconds go by before it's deleted - but you got it in a split second! Great job!--IDuan 12:55, 26 January 2008 (EST)

Thanks Iduan. You're making a lot of positive contributions to this site. --Crocoite 12:59, 26 January 2008 (EST)

Thanks for the welcome

While I realize its bot driven and has all the sincerity of a mass mailing I would like to say thanks. I just discovered this site and I'm almost ecstatic to be here. Finally an internet community that gets it.--Mitrebox 15:31, 26 January 2008 (EST)

Actually, my welcome notices are not bot driven, though I do use a template. I saw your one edit, and gave you the welcome. --Crocoite 18:53, 26 January 2008 (EST)

Great Job

Nice job on CREDO Mobile Crocoite!--IDuan 13:11, 3 February 2008 (EST)

More on this, just so your aware - due to some a question Fox brought up as to whether all the organizations were liberal or not, I redid the phrasing a bit [2] --IDuan 13:38, 3 February 2008 (EST)
Thanks Iduan. Your edit is appropriate. Since a liberal company has identified all their favorite groups, it is fair enough to identify them here on Conservapedia. --Crocoite 13:41, 3 February 2008 (EST)

Thanks for those recent blocks!--Aschlafly 00:32, 7 February 2008 (EST)

Your welcome Andy. I'm not in the mood for their liberal games. ;-) --Crocoite 06:14, 7 February 2008 (EST)

Thanks

Wow, thanks for fixing "Tuscon" - eek, sorry about that!--IDuan 20:33, 19 February 2008 (EST)

No problem. When I wikified it, I wondered why there was a red link, and found out that it was misspelled + it's now a wanted article. --Crocoite 20:37, 19 February 2008 (EST)

Contest 5

Hey Crocoite, as you were a participant in the last contest I'm just giving you the heads up that the draft of the point system for contest 5 has been written, and we're using the talk page as a forum for any notes/complaints that any users may have. Thanks, --IDuan 20:23, 2 February 2008 (EST)

Delete Notice

The way that delete notices work is that you discuss the matter on the appropriate page. --GDewey 19:03, 7 February 2008 (EST)

I'm not discussing this with you. --Crocoite 19:06, 7 February 2008 (EST)
WHy not? THe delete notice was a genuine attempt to improve the site. I cannot understand why you would not discuss. --GDewey 19:08, 7 February 2008 (EST)
Would you discuss it with me? --RedFive 19:13, 7 February 2008 (EST)
No. --Crocoite 19:14, 7 February 2008 (EST)

I'm not discussing this with you. --Crocoite 19:39, 7 February 2008 (EST)
It wasn't constructive criticism; it was destructive criticism. ~BCSTalk2ME 19:40, 7 February 2008 (EST)

Wow, Crocoite…

…getting a bit unpleasant there, aren't you? --MakeTomorrow 15:59, 8 February 2008 (EST)

I'm not in the mood for liberal distractions. --Crocoite 16:02, 8 February 2008 (EST)
Case in point. Distractions from what, might I ask? --MakeTomorrow 16:03, 8 February 2008 (EST)

MakeTomorrow you're acting troll-ish, if the only thing you go on talk pages for is to tell users that they're "getting unpleasant" then you may end up with a block.--IDuan 16:32, 8 February 2008 (EST)

Great blocks!--Aschlafly 20:56, 13 February 2008 (EST)

Thanks Andy! --Crocoite 21:03, 13 February 2008 (EST)

The Onion

Hey Crocoite - just to make sure, you know the Onion is a parody website right? Like that John thing didn't really happen ..--IDuan 22:54, 17 February 2008 (EST)

Yes, I know The Onion is a parody website. I still like the example. --Crocoite 23:14, 17 February 2008 (EST)
Ok that's fine, I just wanted to make sure you knew :D --IDuan 23:17, 17 February 2008 (EST)

NPR

I noticed that awhile back you found some sources pointing out NPR's liberal bias. I've also heard NPR be accused of being elitist as well, such as that its listening population is significantly richer than the general population. I'm looking for sources for that and I was wondering if you had anything. Thanks! DanH 18:57, 18 February 2008 (EST)

Dan, I will glad to help you with sources after I finish a major article I'm doing for contest5. --Crocoite 19:03, 18 February 2008 (EST)

Many thanks, and I really appreciate all you did! We put our noses to the millstone and pounded out some great work - now to see how the scoring tallies :D 10px Fox (talk|contribs) 06:56, 21 February 2008 (EST)

To add - do you have a favourite page you would like nominated for Masterpiece? 10px Fox (talk|contribs) 07:00, 21 February 2008 (EST)
Thanks Fox. I wish my News articles were worth more points but I was able to score big with that National Institutes of Health article.
Great teamwork Fox and you did an awesome job. No, my new articles aren't Masterpiece material. I think your Passover article does qualify for the Masterpiece award. --Crocoite 09:28, 21 February 2008 (EST)

ack, sorry to do this to you Crocoite - but the user who wrote the article now says that they were the ones who wrote it on wikipedia - and they just didn't know to put that note on the talk page, would you mind restoring it? Sorry,--IDuan 11:22, 23 February 2008 (EST)

Blocking

Crocoite, when I revert some vandalism could you at least give me a few minutes to add the block. You're taking all my fun away! :( BrianCo 14:46, 28 February 2008 (EST)

I don't mean to take your fun away, but I think it is better to block them first, then revert the vandalism. That way you stop them from doing more damage and you or someone else can do the reverts. --Crocoite 14:50, 28 February 2008 (EST)
A good point I suppose. My first instinct is to undo the bad and then dispense justice. I guess that's my first-aider training getting the better of me. BrianCo 15:25, 28 February 2008 (EST)

Short blocks

Crocoite, thanks for the short block on User:MJSvensson. By the way, sometimes copying is of someone's own work on the other site, and that is acceptable. Others may not be aware of our rules against copying from another wiki. Is there any chance I should lift MJSvensson's block for a potential misunderstanding?--Aschlafly 12:03, 4 March 2008 (EST)

I understand that sometimes it is ok to copy if it is their own work. I checked the IBM 5250 article and it was a direct copy from http://indopedia.org >Indopedia - IBM 5250. Indopedia says "Articles started before 24 Dec 2004 are outsourced from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, and occasionally developed by Indopedia authors."
I then checked the revision history and it appears this article was a direct copy from Wikipedia (cur) (last) 13:08, 12 Oct 2004 137.111.13.34 Revision history.
His IBM 3270 article appears to copy parts directly from Wikipedia.
Perhaps we can lift his block if he can substantiate these articles were his original work. --Crocoite 12:16, 4 March 2008 (EST)

I sent you an e-mail. Did you get it? Philip J. Rayment 05:03, 5 March 2008 (EST)

categorize Swift-boating

Would you please categorize your article? I disagree with the contents and so recuse myself from editing the article. For what it's worth, I think you can absolutely make the case that the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth did a service to the country (and the case is amply made in the appropriate article), but the usage of the term "Swift-boating" is probably close to 100% as a derrogatory term.

Again, I'm not debating the merits of the Vets for Truth movement, but I think you're on the wrong foot in the article. Before responding, please note that I've done absolutely nothing to the article itself. Thanks, Aziraphale 16:14, 6 March 2008 (EST)

Awesome Breaking News

Awesome Breaking News items!--Aschlafly 13:39, 19 February 2008 (EST)

Thanks Andy! Being able to post News items is one of the most fun things about being an administrator on Conservapedia. When I used to suggest news items on Wikipedia, they discouraged me and called me a troll. --Crocoite 13:48, 19 February 2008 (EST)

You are the best Breaking News editor!

Crocoite, you are the best headline editor! Your story about the miracle baby brought a tear to my eye. Please keep that as the top story for at least several hours. Thank you!--Aschlafly 12:20, 25 February 2008 (EST)

Thanks Andy! Will do. --Crocoite 12:22, 25 February 2008 (EST)

Great Block!

Great block this Sunday morning, Crocoite!--Aschlafly 11:23, 2 March 2008 (EST)

Why do you need a template for one article?
We do not copy from Wikipedia. See CP Commandment #1. --Crocoite 19:10, 16 March 2008 (EDT)

I do not plan on using the template for just one article, Easton's Bible Dictionary, is a big dictionary, it can be used to create several articles

Done. You need to document this template. See Help:Using templates. --Crocoite 20:03, 16 March 2008 (EDT)

The restriction on copying from Wikipedia is because of an incompatible licence. However, pictures do not always come under that licence, and the particular picture in question is public domain, so there's no restriction on copying it. Philip J. Rayment 21:25, 16 March 2008 (EDT)

Drops a link to pictures of naked people in an article and gets a "welcome template" from you- and I get banned for a month making jokes about the "largely defensive weapon of gun?" How does that work? AliceBG 15:14, 27 April 2008 (EDT)

The welcome template was before I saw that link (check the time stamp). I'm going to review his other edits before I decide further action. --Crocoite 19:24, 27 April 2008 (EDT)
Your "largely defensive weapon of gun" line was pure parody, and pure stupidity, which you reverted again and again after being removed. That was why you were blocked, and that kind of nonsense is not going to be tolerated here, Alice. Karajou 20:41, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

Al Gore

Al Gore's Nobel Prize-winning theory is not actually his own. The reporter you quoted made an error.

Block

Hey, I have another username and was blocked under it. I was wondering why I was blocked. The name is "Ultimahero". Please let me know. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BillyJ (talk).

BillyJ is a good username. Ultimahero isn't a preferred username and I wanted to get you to switch before you did a lot of editing. btw, sign your posts using 4 ~ signs like this ~~~~. --DeanSformerly Crocoite 02:34, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

What's wrong with it, though? According to the rules, it's preferred that you use your real name, but not required. So why was I blocked for something that isn't mandated? BillyJ 10:23, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

This was my own interpretation of the policy. I'm reconsidering this type of blocking in the future. --DeanSformerly Crocoite 12:34, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Well, considering that it's your own interpretation and it's a debatable issue, then will you please unblock me? BillyJ 13:44, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Done. --DeanSformerly Crocoite 13:53, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Thank you, sir. Ultimahero 13:55, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Directing you to...

...my talk page, where Ed explained to me that what I thought was a defense of your actions against a charge of hypocrisy apparently sounded like I was the one accusing you of hypocrisy. I'll let you read the full conversation there, but the short version is: if it sounded like that to you, I apologize. Aziraphale 11:47, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for the explanation. --DeanSformerly Crocoite 12:28, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

A major online conservative christian newspaper.....

A major online conservative christian newspaper is very interested in regards to Conservapedia's atheism article and the reporter said she would very likely do a story on it. She said her readers are VERY interested in the subject of atheism and the story that we are promoting our article and that some major Christian internet ministries have started to feature our article is a good story. I am making the conservapedia atheism article the article of the month which I think fits in nicely with the Expelled controversy. I have sent Andy an email on this matter and I am awaiting an answer. Conservative 14:43, 1 May 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for the info. Keep me posted. --DeanSformerly Crocoite 14:45, 1 May 2008 (EDT)

thanks!

for the warm welcome! Rubico 09:43, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

[4] Your name change broke a lot of redirects. I'm not sure what you want done with them, but I figured I should bring it to your attention. IndianaJ 10:14, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

Latest News Article...

Hi Dean,

I have taken to heart, as best I can, guidance from many sources that I need to be less confrontational on CP. It is with some trepidation, therefore, that I point out to you that I believe you've mis-read the article that you've posted in the news section. A plain-text reading, in my opinion, of someone who writes that conservatives are happier than liberals because conservatives are better at rationalizing inequality would be that conservatives are happier because they delude themselves into believing that a problem doesn't exist, regardless of the truth.

Let me be clear that -I'M- not making that argument. I'm saying that's a reasonable interpretation of the FOX article, and as such you might not want to feature it on the front page. Regards, Aziraphale 17:58, 7 May 2008 (EDT)

Interesting take on the article. I appreciate your non-confrontational approach.
I have not misread the article. Your objection is not a reasonable interpretation for a conservative, and thus, the article stays on the Main page. --DeanSformerly Crocoite 18:32, 7 May 2008 (EDT)
Well, as always I reject your judgment that I am not a conservative, as I have consistently rejected it from anyone who has said similar. That having been said, your decision as to what goes on the Main Page stands, obviously. Aziraphale 01:29, 8 May 2008 (EDT)

quick note

I know you are a big fan of the atheism article at Conservapedia and wanted to help get the article more widely known. Therefore, I just sent you an email as I wanted you to be among the first to know. Conservative 11:46, 15 May 2008 (EDT)

Might be of interest

I don't remember seeing this mentioned elsewhere (though I didn't have time to look very hard, so forgive me if it's a duplicate), but this item may be of some interest:

Steven Curtis Chapman’s youngest child died Wednesday evening after being struck by a car driven by her teenage brother in the driveway of the family’s Williamson County home.

Singer/songwriter Chapman, who recently was inducted into Music City Walk of Fame, is one of contemporary Christian music’s most recognizable and most awarded names.

If not, feel free to ignore. --JBrown 11:22, 22 May 2008 (EDT)

Jinxmchue, Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I am keeping an eye on Jimmy (like all liberals). From prior experience, I find it is not worth my time to argue / debate with them. --DeanSformerly Crocoite 12:22, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
